AI tools like Galileo AI and Uizard are now generating high-fidelity wireframes and design variants in seconds, reducing the time spent on low-level visual production. However, the core strategic value of UX designers—understanding user context, defining problems, synthesising research, and navigating organisational constraints—remains resistant to automation. UK employers are increasingly expecting designers to be proficient in using AI as a co-pilot for research synthesis and rapid prototyping, not as a replacement for critical thinking. The biggest risk for junior designers is that fewer entry-level roles exist for pure 'UI production', pushing new entrants to bring stronger research and strategy skills from day one.
